I have terminated my ATT and Direct TV service. I received instructions for returning the ATT equipment but nothing for the Direct TV equipment.

They are the same as AT&T you take returnable DTV receivers to a UPS/FedEx store to scan them in and keep the receipt. What are the model numbers of each DTV receiver so we can tell you if it is returnable or not.
Possible that they weren't returnable. What are the models of your DirecTV boxes?
If any are returnable, though they do use the same return process, do not return them together. Keep the return transactions separate to make sure DirecTV equipment doesn't get logged as going to AT&T's return center or vice versa. You can still do a single visit to a shipper for return, just handle them separately as all.
I have one receiver model #HR44-700
The HR44 was made non-returnable earlier this year. Though to be on the safe side, just hold onto it for a couple months. After that with no non-return fee (NRF) showing, remove the access card an dispose of securely like a credit card and recycle the box itself.
How can we improve?
