The LCC is not yet available, other than a few cities that have lost a local channel due to contract negotiations. And it's not clear if the LCC will ever be available broadly. In the mean time, use an off-air antenna with your TV's tuner.

the issue with the lcc is it only works with limited equipment
i think its just the hr44 an hr54
hopefully they are working on a new version that will support ALL equipment
Let me get this right - DirecTV has added this feature/capability to it's HR44 & HR54 receivers, BUT the actual LCC Kit is NOT yet available? I have a HR44 and all of a sudden I'm getting like 4, 5, maybe 6 additional local channels showing up on my on-screen guide, but when I click on one of these new local channels all I get is an error message something to the affect that no Local Channel Connector Hardware can be found, check your antenna and/or connections. I mean, when is the Kit going to be available and how much is it going to cost?

Your guess is as good as ours.
the incompetence has GOT to be engineered to fruaterate their customers into just not bothering.
Local Channel Connector (LCC) is still in testing, not yet available for national launch.
DirecTV is making an early exception to provide the LCC to those who live in an area affected by local channel negotiations. This does change the LCC is not officially out of testing. Just some early access to help combat those local negotiations. Check https://tvpromise.att.com/ to see if you are affected by any negotiations, if so call DirecTV to see about getting one, otherwise you will have to wait like the rest of us.
When national launch will be and how much the LCC will cost are still unknown at this point.
The extra local channels you are seeing in the guide are accidental.
Accidental!? They are local over air channels. You mean they just have their system setup to view that information but DIRECTV will not give its customers Local Channel Conectors to view it.
and that...says it all. It’s not like they can’t fix the problem. They won’t.
@srtowens wrote:Thanks for the clarification. Its a shame DirecTV/AT&T cannot hireintelligent/knowledgeable customer service reps. If it weren't for thischat group a person would not be able to get any meaningful info regardingDirecTV services at all.Again, thanks!srt
Agents need more training time and to use their resources to look up correct information. Agents from the AT&T side having to learn all the ins and outs of a service that doesn't work the same (mechanically or by policy) is the biggest weakness. Since this forum does have some long experienced customers (such as myself), these days we have become more of a necessity to help each other out.
Once the LCC is out of testing and available to all, it has the potential to be quite the blow to all those locals that keep trying to raise costs. I wonder if it is truly because of testing, or they are either making sure the channel database (that the old AM21 also uses) is ready from updates or catching up on building enough LCCs to go around.
If it is available to all, how come no one can get one!? DIRECTV is refusing to send them to those who want it. All of their crap is driving me to just get rid of them. I mean the locals are apps on AppleTV or Roku. And the infuriation of just dealing them......they’ve just created a system and environment to try and hold onto their antiquated (Edited per community guidelines) for as long as they can pull our money out of it.
It is not available to all.
if I was told I would be receiving one and didn’t get it, then would it have been available to me?
If you were in a negotiation area, then during a limited window you might have gotten one. Unfortunately from other posts (including from those with the "employee" tag), it appears that too many orders were placed that they couldn't keep up with.
So until it is out of testing with enough stock built-up, it will not be for sale. During negotiations with local channels they might do an exception again, but that is not a guarantee.
Would be nice if it was available all around, but that is not the reality. There is no entitlement or obligation that requires you get one. If they open it again for a limited exception like before, I hope they would disclose something like "while supplies last" to set the correct expectation.
At this point you apparently not getting one.
Oh well, I guess I just have to give up! SOOOO Helpfull! Thanks to all of you "Award for Community Excellence 2019 Achievers", you're so freaking great! Be careful so you don't choke on all that AT&T Kool-Aid you're gulping! And PLEASE don't forget to cash all of those checks! (ha! , who am I kidding, I don't have to worry about that.)
Hey, when you get your chance, I hope you catch a major diseased so you and your family can all go away! That would be an "achievement" for society at large. Keep reaching for those stars
Achievers"! Thanks again!
We have given honest information about the situation. Sometimes our answers are not what you want, but it is the reality of what is happening.
Just because you don't like that you are unable to get an LCC is no reason to be hostile. I have kept this a mature and polite discussion and would hope you would do the same.
Are you being serious right now!? You’re not helping, you’re just weighing in to say I’m screwed. Thanks for that “help”, “achiever”. That’s the same kind of “help” as if I were to say that you’re just a (Edited per community guidelines) corporate supporting (Edited per community guidelines). You’re welcome for that “help”.
Not working on the HS17 may also be part of the problem.
Not working on the HS17 is a good point. Especially with how hard agents have been pushing it.
Compatibility with LCC and HDDVRs would make that a system to consider (provided bugs squashed). But for now, no compatibility with LCC give the Genie-2 another nail.
Then why can’t those of us who have HR54 systems get one?
predatory. Their should be a (Edited per community guidelines) (Edited per community guidelines). It’s predatory!
Nexstar is causing a lot of complaints here in the forum, so is affecting a lot of people. So it would make sense there are not enough LCCs to go around. I was hoping that testing itself was at the end and they were just offering early access to it while building up enough inventory to do a proper national launch. So we shall see what happens in the foreseeable future.
THERE SHOULD BE A CLSS ACTION (Edited per community guidelines)!
The Local Channel Connector (LCC) is an optional accessory by DirecTV that is still in testing. There is absolutely nothing required by DirecTV to provide you one so there is nothing to dispute about it.
DirecTV is service by satellite. They have no obligation to connect your over-the-air (OTA) antenna to their equipment. It is a convenience they are working on, but has only worked with a couple models. Because of limited compatibility and stock depleted as they were nice and gave some out to many people that were affected by their local channels pulling the feed temporarily, it is not ready for national launch.
You want local channels use a regular antenna on your TV. Otherwise going to pay TV should be for all the national channels that you cannot get free over the regular airways.
You are distracting from and/or missing the point! We are all looking for the same thing on this thread, to INCLUDE our local off air programming along with our satellite programming. This is possible but Directv is inhibiting us from doing so. Moreover you/they are purposefully and actively inhibiting us from doing so. Directv has the ability and, yes, no “legal reason” to help us. But your statement alone shows how against the customer Directv really is. And THAT will be your businesses ultimate downfall and why people will get rid of your tyrannical and draconian dip(Edited per community guidelines) decoder boxes for something that actually works for what we want.
You are simply wrong AND a lier.
@YRSrviceIsAScam oh, community guidelines don’t allow you can’t say “(Edited per community guidelines)”.
I have not lied about anything. The LCC is a highly desired accessory. Only works with the HR44 and HR54, but the not their new Genie-2 (HS17). Since they have been so heavily pushing that new server tower, going a new direction with equipment from traditional receivers, it is understandable they want the LCC to work with their current equipment.
DirecTV provides locals via satellite, but only if they have permission from the local affiliate owner. Connecting a regular antenna is not going through their service, so there is no requirement they provide it. If there were to just move on and discontinue investment in the LCC, that would be their right to do so.
Sorry but as much as you want the LCC, it is not ready for a full national launch as has still been in test markets, with limited exception during negotiations with local channel owners. In the end it is their choice if it is provided or not as having one is not an obligation.
And from your statement, you seem to have a misunderstanding. This is not my business any more than it is yours. I am a customer. This is a public forum of other customers. If you want official support then you call them.
Yes, you are lying about “testing”. I have an HR54/500 and have been asking for a LLC ever since a Directv service technician disconnected my AM21, 3 years ago. So you’re saying that they’ve been testing for 3 years? I have contacted the directv customer service many times to resolve and get different (Edited per community guidelines) each time. What I am looking for is an LLC...Period. The reason why I’m on this forum is because for 3 years I have not gotten a straight answer, they have refused to send me an LLC and I think that their (Edited per community guidelines) customer service is, well, (Edited per community guidelines) and that there should be (Edited per community guidelines) litigation because their practices are predatory.
The LCC has been restricted to test markets Salt Lake City and Las Vegas. It is not compatible with their new Client only system. So yes they have still been in testing and development. What the more specific issues as to why that is we do not know.
So just because it has gone on 3 years, does not make what I said a lie. Bottom line is the LCC was not ready for full launch to be sold. Get a grip and face reality. If you don't like it so much you are free to seek another provider.
Ugh......DirectV. End....This... (Edited per community guidelines)
Well I can see you are unable to hold a mature adult discussion at this time. I hope you feel better later and can approach other things with a clear head.
Like many others I hope the LCC will get past whatever is holding it in testing (such as not being compatible with their newest equipment), and enough can be produced so they can launch it for sale. Until then I move on with the understanding that the LCC is no right of ours as a customer and DirecTV has no obligation to provide them to us. It is an optional accessory that is up to them if they continue with or not, just like the AM21 before it.
Ha! Good one. Beep, beep, boop, beep...look at me.
And hey, thanks again for your help and weigh in.
