Call them. And why do you think it’s a scam. 15 million subscribers beg to differ

Duplicate post.

As explained you call them and request to cancel. They do not contact you to cancel and there is no support by email.

Discounts being over is not a scam. DirecTV is a business, not a charity.

Not a Scam but I can see why you would feel that the value has decreased over the last few years to the point where you might feel like you were getting less value than the service is actually worth.   The difference between Directv programming and Att programming is astounding.   The quality has declined to the point that I can no longer see the value.   Large segments of paid programming, Hawking vacuum cleaners, jewelry, coins, even adult products?  Yes, that and more...  Along with that we are now seeing (info commercials) in excess of two minutes.   Commercial breaks between 4 min and 12 minutes.   Programming has suffered to the point that a 90 min movie is now 3 hours long...     IF ATT is determined to create a wallet sucking monolith that provides such poor quality programming they are doing great.

I am very aggravated with the process to cancel Direct TV.  My parents (ages 80 and 91) have tried calling the phone customer service (non-stop recordings and when you do get a human, they transfer you all over the place).  Parents thought they had cancelled the account after speaking with 2 reps and now they have another bill.  Needless to say, the phone system of cancelling is very difficult for elderly and even younger.  I was on the phone yesterday trying to cancel and could never get past the annoying recordings.  What can we do to cancel????????  Parents can no longer afford the service and want it gone.

The content providers send the same programing to all TV providers and those infomercials pay the TV providers to air them thus helping to keep your bill from going higher.

@reelstuff

Fair enough viewpoint on overall costs and what channels are available not being the right setup for some.

However, keep in mind TV providers have no control over the amount, length, or type of commercials channels have. The channel owners determine that per their agreements with the advertisers.

Any paid/informercial only channels, tend to pay for their channel space. This helps cover the cost of paying the other channels.

Without the informercials paying for their channel slots, and advertisers paying the subscribed channels, our bills would have been that much higher.
