50% discount offered on current plans?

I've received several voice messages saying that the person is calling from AT&T DirectTV and that my "existing package with us has been qualified for 50% off along with a free upgrade..." I did not and will not call back, especially because they call from different numbers and say to return the call using the number on the caller ID. Sounds like a scam to me!!! Is it?

That's what I figured, too! I just don't want anyone to fall for it. Thanks for your reply.

They are spoofing caller id so that number means nothing.

The voicemail says call us back on the caller ID displayed. Not sure how they would spoof/translate/route the Dialed Number??

Voicemail: “Hi I'm calling you from AT&T DIRECTV to let you know that your account is _______ for 50% off in order to obtain a discount kindly call us back on the number you see on your caller ID thank you and have a great day…”

So in that case, the number isn’t spoofed but it’s still not Directv calling and still a scam. Thanks to VOIP, scammers can generate new numbers and retire old numbers at anytime. That number on your caller id might only work that day or for a day or two.
