Yale Lock with key access - paperclip hack

I recently found a YouTube video that shows how you can open my ATT Yale digital door lock with a bent paper clip. I tried it and got it open in less than a minute. I am not a locksmith. Does AT&T have a plan for upgrading these locks to fix this security vulnerability? Is there something that I can do other than purchasing a new $179 device that has no keyhole?

Hello,

I have one of those locks as well... wasn’t aware that a paper clip could defeat it, or that there was a fix.

Why doesn’t ATT contact owners of these locks and proactively address a solution? (They know what was installed with the system)

On that topic, what is the fix? Do I need ATT To install a new lock, or is there some other fix/solution?

Let me know - thanks.

Mine was an older one - about 5 or more years. Another locksmith did a video where he bought one and showed that it wasn’t pickable with a paperclip so I’m thinking that Yale wised up to it and changed their locks to defeat this.

@directv_123  Hello. Yep, was a Yale issue and very random. I can have a tech come out and swap out yours as well. Will have a specialist reach out to you to schedule an appt for you.

Our Yale lock randomly attempts to open on its own and acts like its jamming but it really locks or unlocks.

How do I determine if the Yale lock I have is one that should be replaced?
