Wifi Calling on Unlocked Phones?
AT&T had announced that once HD Voice and Wifi Calling was deployed in locked phones they would start rolling it out to compatible unlocked phones. Is there any word on when the deployment to unlocked phones will start rolling out?
Background...
In recent travels I found AT&T cellular coverage spotty, however my wife's iPhone latched on to AT&T Wifi where she could continue to make and receive calls. I have an unlocked Blackberry Priv (STV100-1) which is identical as the AT&T branded Blackberry Priv (STV100-1). The only difference is that AT&T has whitelisted the AT&T version for Wifi Calling based upon it's IMEI. From my understanding, all it takes to enable WIFI calling on the unlocked phone is to add it to the whitelist.
I'd like to offer my Priv in an experiment for AT&T so they can validate deployment to unlocked phones is possible and works as expected. This should be a good test as the branded version is supported and works. For those that travel, it would be a nice gesture to broaden coverage in weak cellular areas.

A two-year's long thread and AT&T still refuses to allow unlocked phones to access VOLTE, HD calling, and wifi calling. AT&T's sale of microcell/femtocell units has been, I think, discontinued.
Meanwhile, in other places on the globe, other carriers happily provide VOLTE and wifi calling to users of unlocked OnePlus phones and others.
As we can see, from just this thread, it's possible to access these services from an unlocked phone, provided you flash it with AT&T's software. It appears me the limitation isn't on the device's hardware. Instead, it's on AT&T's control over a device you already own, bought-and-paid-for, free and clear.
I feel sorry for AT&T's customer service people who invariably ask me, at the end of our interaction, about my experience with AT&T. Solely because I own my own phones, I'm treated as a second-class customer, given access to only second-class carrier services. How do you think that makes me feel?
I'll see you back on this thread in another two years. Do you want to wager there will have been no change in AT&T's position in this matter, by then?

I'm there are unlocked phones that use Volte that are unlocked. The pixel 3 XL has both wifi calling and volte. They are changing their ways slowly.

We are fairly well familiar with all things AT&T, not necessarily which cellular provider is going to provide different services. You’re going to have to do your own research
