WiFi calling for Samsung phones

When will AT&T be offering WiFi calling for the latest Samsung phones?  S7 or Note5?  Disappointed in the choice of AT&T to not get them up and running at the same time they worked on the Iphones. Looking like the AT&T competition may be making a serious play for the market share of this technology.

Hey @BruceG,

Thank you for contacting the AT&T Community Forums! I can shine some light on this for you!

We currently do not have a date for when AT&T Wi-Fi Calling will be released for the Samsung Galaxy S7 or Note 5. This is a feature that we are working on bringing to as many devices as possible. AT&T Wi-Fi Calling was recently released for the LG G4 on 06/15, more Android devices will follow shortly.

We invite you to join our AT&T Wi-Fi Calling discussion thread. Where you can read up about this feature and stay-up-date with the latest devices that have received this great feature!

Thank you for forming part of the AT&T family!

That's cs speak for hey here is my canned response as we have no clue what is going on with updates or wifi calling. Most of the time customers know an update had released before customer service.

Usually, a company has project plans which include target dates for build and completion. Does AT&T have those for this project? Should be fairly simple to tell customers what those are for their devices. The vast majority of us would rather hear that those dates can't be met than to have no idea what the goal is. As a customer, I would wait out the project completion over changing carriers if there was some target date. This approach by AT&T encourages me to look for a competitor that is more customer friendly in their approach to customer service. I don't think most of us need to hear what already happened as a response to what the plan is for the rest left hanging out there.

Show me a us carrier that releases update schedules. T-mobile had a website for mm bit it didn't give dates.

This is ridiculous. My gs3 had wifi calling on the t-tmobile network when they came out a long time ago and I now have a gs7 active and my wife has a note 5 and neither have wifi calling. If att carried service everywhere it wouldn't be a problem but they don't and now it's an issue. Totally making me rethink my decision to go with att and will probably choose another carrier in the future. Smh

Yeah, I agree, AT&T didn't specifically claim any WiFi calling platform phones, but you can read the FierceWireless articles, where they quote AT&T quite a bit, about this topic.

They said 2015 was the year for expanding WiFi calling, and then they said it again, in late 2015, but they didn't put any hard numbers in the statements, that I found anyway.

I agree, it's frustrating, as someone who struggles with this, during winters. I don't have much coverage on weekends, but have WiFi, and therefore would have phone/text working just great, if they expanded this service.

T-Mobile seems far more motivated and is constantly adding handsets to their WiFi and VoLTE capability list, but they don't have good rural coverage, so it kinda' makes sense.

I keep hoping they'll expand this, to everyone's benefit, and start to use the built-in VoLTE constructs that a lot of phones come with, maybe one of these days soon...

I have read this thread about WiFi calling on Samsung phones with great surprise.  My interest is that we have two Samsung phones and was told that we needed to get an Android phone (Samsung) that has WiFi calling because our AT&T Micro-cell that we used to get a good cell signal just died.  So, I went to AT&T to get another Micro-cell only to find out they don't make, support, or help customers to get new Micro-cells.  So, I was told to get a new Samsung phone w/WiFi calling.  Now, from reading this information AT&T does NOT have WiFi calling up and running.  It appears that I need to find a new carrier also.
