Hello Ebugogo, we're here to help get your Visual Voicemail back to working.

Try power cycling your device to restart. Press and hold the Volume down and Side buttons, then select Power off > Power off. To turn the device back on, press and hold the Side button until the screen lights up.

If this doesn't help go to Settings, General Settings, Reset, Reset All Settings.

You may need to set up your visual voicemail service again if you recently changed your device/SIM card by reinstalling the AT&T Visual voicemail app. Make sure that you have 4G LTE data enabled as this is needed for visual voicemail.

Let us know if this helps, and thank you for contacting the AT&T Community Forums.

I've had visual voicemail issues for over a year where my messages won't go to visual voicemail or I can't listen to a new message without getting "please wait while message is downloaded".

I've had visual voicemail removed and re added to the account (causing all messages to be erased) multiple times, I've reset the voicemail password, I've cleared the cache, I've cleared the data.

Clearing the data worked for a grand total of just about a week and a half before it stopped working again. Cases have been opened but the techs can't be bothered to contact me.. Support's solution has been to just keep redoing all the troubleshooting steps.

Support has blamed home and work data connection but has failed to address data connection anywhere else I've been, so Nationwide data connection issues then by that logic.

Started with the S21 Ultra and issues continued with the S22 Ultra. Unacceptable that this issue hasn't been addressed.

You going to thank me for this one. I spent over an hour on the phone with a tech and we solved the issue.

First, make sure you have all updates current on your phone software. 2nd go to the visual voice mail icon, hold down and hit the (i) button to go to the settings (thisbis were you would see the select option or force close).Go down to Storage and hit clear cache and then hit clear data. Now you should be able to see your visual voice mail. Let me know of this helps.

Thanks LaTrinda! I wish your post here was the top search result for visual voicemail not working.

Mine stopped working during a trip overseas and I spent hours trying various complicated solutions to get it working again. Clearing the cache and data in the VVM app was all it took to restore it to normal.

LaTrinda, thanks for your post. I have been struggling with this and your solution not only worked, but was simple to do. Much better than the official answer.

Anyone know why the Visual Voicemail isn’t working in IPhone 14 Pro Max. Had about 7 calls with Tech Support, they cannot figure it out. I am on IOS 16.5, just got the phone a week ago, using ESim.

Interesting to know that the iPhone is also having voicemail issues. I had issues with voicemail on the S21 and S22; AT&T was potentially going to allow me to switch to the iPhone, but if there's issues on the iPhone then I guess it's not worth the trouble of switching
