Visual voicemail not working

I have samsung galaxy S21 5G . Since we switched to AT&T I cannot use the visual voicemail. I got the phone from them. I spend over 2 hours on the phone with support and they couldn't fix it. I can call my voicemail by dialing 1 and check messages but not on the Visual Voicemail app. I get a notification if someone leaves me a voicemail that says "Visual Voicemail. Select to sign in" When I click on it, it takes me to the app and there is nothing there. If I click to refresh it says my mailbox has been locked. Anyone else experience same problem? I would like to download specific voicemail to my phone but I can't if this stupid app won't work.

Hi KristofIL! We are here to help get your Visual voicemail app back up and running again!

Please ensure that your 4G LTE mobile data is enabled as this is essential in using the visual voicemail feature. Power cycle your device to reset it and reset your network settings to refresh your connection. You'll need to navigate to Settings app>General management>Reset>Reset network settings

We also recommend updating your device software to the latest version as this ensures all apps are running on the latest software version. Also, check for any AT&T Visual Voicemail app updates that may be needed, you may also need to reinstall the app if the app did not come pre-installed on the device.

We hope this helps! Reach back out to us if you have additional questions. Thank you for reaching out to the AT&T Community Forums!

The visual voicemail app came pre-isntalled on my phone. It's not the AT&T visual voicemail app. I cannot install that one on my phone (I don't know why). I cannot remove or reinstall the one that is on my phone. I did all the steps above and still it doesn't work

Hello @KristofIL, we want to help with your Visual Voicemail concerns on your Samsung Galaxy S21 5G device.

First, you'll need to confirm that Visual Voicemail isn't disabled on your device:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Go to Apps, Applications, or Application Manager.
  3. Select Visual Voicemail. Note: If Visual Voicemail is not present, select Menu or More (in upper right corner), then Show system apps. Then select Visual Voicemail.
  4. Enable Visual Voicemail, if disabled.

Next, you can try resetting and restarting your device to ensure that your changes are successful. For a more personalized troubleshooting experience, feel free to review our Device Support tool. Sign in and choose the option "Fix an issue" for further help.

Feel free to give these steps a try and let us know how this helps!

Thanks for trying and letting us know, @KristofIL.

Based on your visual voicemail concerns, we want to get you into a PM. Check the message icon in the upper portion of the page and reply back.

Also, in the meantime please provide us with more information to better help:

  • What current AT&T plan are you using with this device?
  • Was Visual Voicemail previously working on your device before or never been set up?
  • Did you confirm that the AT&T Visual Voicemail app is updated on your device? This will ensure that your app is successfully working to the best of it's ability.

Feel free to respond in the PM and let us know so that we may further assist with your concerns.

Thank you.

I wasn't able to download and install AT&T Visual Voicemail from the "Play Store" but I did find the APK file online and download it to my phone. Then install the app. Right now  I can use the AT&T app to listen to my voicemails which is nice. And I can download the messages. The app that came with the phone still doesn't work.
