Trying to unlock a paid off phone that system thinks is not yet paid off.

I would like to be able to activate this device again, it has not had active service for some time. I saw a forum post from several years ago here where another user faced the same problem. The model number is SM-G889A which translates to a Galaxy XCover FieldPro, I am not sure if I should post the IMEI to the general forum or not. I would greatly appreciate assistance.

Hello vintagemotors_always, we're here to help you unlock your Galaxy XCover Field Pro SM-G889A.

Lets meet in a Direct Message to discuss unlocking your device. Please check your Direct Message Inbox, which is the chat icon next to the bell icon in the upper right corner of the Forums page.

In the meantime, please review the device unlock requirements.

  • Is an AT&T phone or device and isn’t active on another AT&T account.
  • Was paid in full when you bought it (not on an installment plan). You won’t have to wait 60 days to unlock it.
  • Has a paid-off installment plan.
    • Paid through your monthly bill: Submit your unlock request at the start of your next bill period.
    • Paid off early: The wireless number assigned to the device must be active for at least 60 days. Wait 48 hours after you make your final payment to submit your unlock request. Learn how pay off your installment plan.
  • Doesn’t have a past-due account balance. Make a payment to bring your account current. It will take 24 hours for your payment to post.
  • Hasn’t been reported as lost, stolen, or involved with fraud.
  • Is an AT&T PREPAID phone that has had paid service for at least six months.

We hope to hear from you!

Are you unlocking as a non-customer?

If you are trying to use that phone on AT&T or one of its many mvno, you don't need to unlock it. It will work just fine with an AT&T SIM card on Cricket, H2O, straight talk with an AT&T SIM card, Etc.

You would only need to unlock it if you were trying to use it on T-Mobile
