Switching carrier to AT&T, how long does activation take?
Hello all!
I activated my phone tonight after midnight mountain time and there’s still no service and it’s been over an hour now. I’m switching from T-Mobile and keeping same number. How long should I expect this whole activation process to take?
Thank you for your time!

Good afternoon @Corvidtrue,
I understand how important it is to have reliable service, especially after switching providers. I’ll be happy to help.
We apologize and are working to restore service quickly. Click here for details on Wi-Fi calling.
Please let us know if you have other questions. Hope you have a lovely day!

Had to call in the following morning to get it straightened out. No big deal. Customer service was terrific and still happy I switched!
Thank you for your help

Well apparently activation takes more than a day. I have 6 hours of chat and calls with AT&T and still no service. I am almost sorry that I switched from T-Mobile. Everyone has been super nice, though and the last person assured me that he made changes that would activate my account. That was 4 hours ago and my new phone has been restarted at least 10 times. This is unacceptable.

Also, you must call for them to turn on WiFi calling.

Hi MickiDee! We want to address your Number Transfer inquiry!
Please create your own post as this is an old post and may be closed anytime. Number transfers usually take 1-3 business hours when done at the store and 3-5 business days if you ordered your new phone or SIM Card online or over the phone. Check the status of your number transfer by entering the number you're transferring to us and following the prompts to check your transfer status.
Lastly, turn on Wi-Fi calling by navigating to Settings>Cellular/Connection>Wi-Fi Calling on your device, review important info and confirm your emergency 911 address to set up Wi-Fi calling. Learn more about Wi-Fi calling, the requirements and how to stay connected with Wi-Fi calling in areas of low or no cellular signal.
We hope this helps! Thank you for reaching out to the AT&T Community Forums!

Thank you for reaching back to us MickiDee!
Please create your own post as this is an old post and may be closed anytime. Wi-Fi calling may not properly work, as an active postpaid/ AT&T Prepaid wireless account is needed for Wi-Fi calling to work. A compatible device, a connected Wi-Fi network and little to no cellular coverage is also needed for Wi-Fi calling to work.
Let us know what type of device you are currently using to better assist you. Turn on Wi-Fi calling by going to Settings > Cellular/Connection > Wi-Fi Calling if Wi-Fi calling is not listed, your device is not compatible.
We hope this helps! Reach back out to us if you have additional questions. Thank you for reaching out to the AT&T Community!

I switched my service online last night and it has not switched. Is there a way to check the status?

Check and see if your transfer went through, you might need to provide additional information from your old provider
