Remote voicemail access
I have had ATT Wireless service for many years. I use an iPhone SE (original version), and in order to hear my voicemail, all I do is tap on the phone icon, and then select the voicemail icon, and I can hear the messages or read them if they're transcribed. I don't need to use a password to check my voicemail from my iPhone, and I like that. Now, I'm also interested in being able to access my ATT Wireless voicemail remotely as well, so that if I am without my iPhone, I can still check my messages. From what I have read online, it seems I would have to set up a voicemail password in order to access my voicemail messages remotely. Is that correct? Once a password is established, would I then always have to enter that password, even when I'm checking my voicemail "non-remotely", from the iPhone itself?

When you access voicemail on your phone, you are using visual voicemail. You are using a password, it’s just stored in the phone. You set up a voicemail password when you set up visual voicemail. That is the same password you use when you access voicemail remotely. If you don’t know your voicemail password, you can change it in settings/phone/Change Voicemail Password.

Thank you, sandblaster! I didn’t previously understand that accessing voicemail on my iPhone, even just listening to the messages, was considered “visual” voicemail. I used your solution and it worked.
