Porting and Dual SIM
I want to port a number from Ring Central to AT&T. I want the ported number to ring to the same device as my AT&T number. I do not want to replace the number - I want both numbers to ring to the same device. Is this possible?

Yes, it’s possible. As you noted, you will need a dual sim phone and you will obviously need to pay for two lines. Presuming the ring central number can be ported, you will add a line when you port it.

The AT&T agent I spoke to kept saying I had to replace the existing number on the device. When I told him I didn't want to REPLACE but ADD TO, he didn't seem to know if that was possible.
I'm afraid I'll lose the existing ATT number during the port process. How can I ensure this doesn't happen?

We want to help you port your number to AT&T and answer your dual SIM inquiries srbashara!
What our ACE sandblaster stated is true, you'll need a dual SIM device to use both of the lines on the same device.
Helpful tips
Make sure your number is eligible
If the number's eligible to transfer, you’ll have to share info about your current account to start the transfer process. Any wrong info may cause a delay.
There are two ways to transfer a number to us:
- Activate a new line with a number you're transferring from another carrier.
- Replace the AT&T number you have now with one you're transferring from another carrier.
We hope this helps! Feel free to reach back out to us if you have additional questions! Thank you for reaching out to the AT&T Community Forums!

No, you won’t, as long as you add a line for the number you port. You are not replacing the number or line you already have. Something else to consider is to port your ring central number to google voice. That way you won’t have to add or pay ATT for a second line and you don’t need a dual sim phone. Google voice uses the internet for calls, so it uses either your WiFi or cellular data connection, plus its free, though you may need to pay a one time fee to port the number.
