Phone switching from wifi to cellular and dropping call, but wifi calling is OFF
Recently my phone has been dropping calls before I answer or before the person I'm calling answers. There is a brief message that says the call can't be continued over wifi and is switching to cellular. However, I DO NOT HAVE WIFI CALLING ON. This is very frustrating. I have to call twice and the person I'm calling usually sees that I called and may be trying to call me back. Likewise, if someone is calling me and it hangs up, then they go to voice-mail and have to call back. I have checked all settings regarding wifi calling and all are off. A search of this issue does not provide any results, but there does seem to be a lot of dropped calls on all networks when switching from wifi to cellular or vice versa. But, these users have wifi calling on. I do not. On S10. Not sure if this is a phone problem, an android software problem, or a network problem. Anyone else having this issue? Just seemed to start a few weeks ago.

Hello @Hoyt369, we understand how frustrating it is to have dropped calls. Let's try to turn this experience around for you.
In order to place and maintain a call, you will need a stable internet connection. At the time that your calls drop have you noticed your coverage? If you are in a low coverage area, there is a possibility that your calls may drop at any given moment. For this reason Wi-Fi calling is suggested for use.
If you have not enabled the feature and confirmed that it is turned off, there may be an issue with your device. We recommend resetting your network settings. Doing so will refresh you on our network as well as with any current Wi-Fi connections.
Let us know if this helps!

My phone is still trying to switch to wifi and dropping the call. It is even worse now as it is dropping the call after I have been on the call for a few minutes. This seems like a software glitch to me. Again, I do not have wifi calling turned on. Why is it trying to switch to wifi?

Software is up to date. I went by AT&T store and they switched my SIM card. I thought this helped, but phone is still trying to connect over wifi then says switching to cellular and drops call. I noticed when I get the message the upper left corner says no SIM. Which is why I tried the new SIM card. I have noticed it seems to occur more at work or going to or from work. It rarely happens at home. I live in 73025 and work in 73120.

Hi @Hoyt369,
Thank you for getting back to us.
We've checked the two zip codes you've provided, and the nearby towers are in good standing in those areas. Just to be certain, you mentioned that the problem mostly happens at work. Were either of these zip codes your work area? If they were, there additional steps we can try.
If they weren't, we'd like to see the zip of your work area just to be completely certain. The last option would be to factory reset your device after backing up and saving all your data.
We look forward to hearing back from you!

Well, this thread is not private. Everyone can see what is posted. Unfortunately, ATTHelp does this often. They can’t make a thread private, they are unlikely to be of any help with your issue.

I'm having the same issues. I have reached out to att, but so far nothing has worked. We're you able to fix the issue? If so, how?? It's so frustrating!

Nope. AT&T was no help. Samsung said I was past warranty period. Android said it was not their issue. I finally gave up and bought a new phone.

That's what I was afraid of. At least I'm eligible for an upgrade on this line. Thanks for responding!
