NumberSync fails on AT&T Website

I am trying to set up NumberSync on my Galaxy Watch 4.  After working with tech support I was finally able to generate a sync code on my watch, but when I try to use the website to use it, it constantly tries to reroute me to login with a different account, or create a new one.

Specifically:

1) I login,

2) then I choose my Galaxy Watch from my list of devices (there are two phones on this account and one watch), and select "Manage device"

3) on the next page, I select "Manage Number Sync"

at this point I get rerouted to a page that says:

"You can only sync your wearable to a phone that has its own AT&T Access ID. Does that phone have an ID?"
The following are my options:
"No, let's create an access ID" and "Yes, log in with that ID"
My phone is the primary number on the account, as verified in my contact info on the profile page.  I am the primary account holder, I'm not even sure the other phone on the account has its own ID at all.
When I select, "Yes, log in with that ID" it kicks me back to the login screen.
If I choose, "No, let's create an access ID" and try to register with my phone number, it tells me I already have one.
Any advice here?  I tried 2-3 iterations of this with tech support on the phone but to no avail, so hoping someone here can help me.
Thanks!

Hi psistarpsi, we understand how frustrating it can be trying to set up technology, and we want to help!

Let's Learn how to set up NumberSync so you can make and receive phone calls or send and receive texts on a compatible Android smartwatch.

For the best NumberSync experience, choose AT&T Messages Backup & Sync as the default messaging app on your smartphone. Here’s how:

  1. Go to Messages.
  2. Tap More, then Settings, and finally AT&T Messages Backup & Sync.
  3. Select Turn it on if it’s not already enabled. We’ll send you a confirmation text.
  • See if the Samsung Galaxy Wearable app is on your phone. Go to Apps, choose Samsung (if applicable), and then Samsung Galaxy Wearable
    • Don’t have the app? Download and install it. The Galaxy Wearable app is also available for non-Samsung smartphones running Android 5.0 and up.
    • Already have the app? Make sure you have the most current version.
  • You can set up your Samsung account with Samsung Galaxy Wearable. You don’t have to have a Samsung account to activate NumberSync for your smartwatch.

Get NumberSync setup instructions

  1. Select your wearable brand:
  2. Choose the Wearables tab, select the correct model, and then Confirm selection.
  3. Choose when you’re going to set up NumberSync:
    • If now, look for Device info and select Getting started.
    • If later, select Key features & apps and then NumberSync.

Please reach back out to us if you need further assistance with setting up your Galaxy Watch as we have more steps we can try. Thank you for contacting AT&T Community Forums.

I appreciate the response here, but the basic instructions are not working for me.

I am able to get through everything, including generating the sync code, but I get blocked by the website at the last step, as outlined above.

To reiterate, I worked through the process in realtime with a customer service rep and failed multiple times, so the standard procedure is just not working for me.

Any ideas here?  Or anyone else who's worked through the same problem?

For reference, here is the page I end up at when trying to use my NumberSync code:

When I select, "Yes, log in with that ID" it kicks me back to the login screen.
If I choose, "No, let's create an access ID" and try to register with my phone number, it tells me I already have one.
So I'm really stuck here.

Thank you for the update, @psistarpsi.

We understand that you have been assisted with other reps regarding your number sync. We would like to invite you to a Direct Message to assist with additional troubleshooting steps and to also take a closer look at what may be causing you to not complete the final steps.

We are now going to transition to a Direct Message. You will find a chat icon next to a bell icon at the top of the page on the right-hand side. Our next message will appear there.

In the meantime you can try clearing your cache and cookies in your browser settings and try it again to see if that helps with the last step of logging in to your account.

We look forward to speaking with you soon to help resolve this.

Any resolution to this?  Got my galaxy 5 pro today and am having the same problem, and have called ATT support 5 times and every time they have disconnected me.

If you have call blocking software on your phone, please turn it off or uninstall it.

Be great if this still wasn't an issue a year later. Any resolution to this? I woke up one day and watch stop connecting to LTE. Only Bluetooth and wifi. Try to download new esim. Nothing happens on the watch. Factory reset, nothing. Try to confirm sync and have the same problem, stuck in a "login loop" and it's extremely irritating.
