Note8 AT&T Security Update WiFi issues

I downloaded the new security update onto my phone this past Thursday. Immediately afterwards, my internet slowed down. Figured it was area. Now that I am back home, when my phone is on, the WiFi gets choked to a crawl. When I turns it off, internet goes back to normal. It is clear something has happened since the update to make my phone do this to any and all internet it connects to. Anyone else having this issue?

We're sorry to hear that your Note8 update is giving you troubles, we're here to help.

The first step will be to try resetting the network. Please tap Settings > Connections > More Connection Settings > Reset Network settings > Reset Network Settings. This will clear out any saved Wi-Fi passwords, but also helps in resetting the connections.

 

If this still does not fix the Wi-Fi connection, please go to our Troubleshoot & Resolve tool. Choose your phone’s make & model, and then for the issue choose Wi-Fi.

 

Next would be to clear the phone’s Cache Partition.

  • Power off the device.
  • Press and hold Volume Up + Home + Power.
  • When the Samsung logo appears, release Power only. Continue pressing Volume Up and Home.
  • Release all buttons when the Android System recovery appears.
  • Using Volume Down, select wipe cache partition.

The last resort would be to factory reset the phone. Make sure to back up your information as this clears all personalized information off the phone. You can find information on how to back up & reset on our Device Support page. Once you select the correct make & model click on Tutorials > Backup & reset.
