lost phone while traveling

I don't have access to my personal laptop at the moment and have lost my phone. Can I get it locked down but still transfer setting to a new phone in a few days? In other words, I don't want anyone else to use it (we think it's in the hotel but just haven't located it), but not strip all the info from it yet in case I can find it?

And no, I can't get into iCloud / Find My Phone because 2FA is set up to send the verification to my phone.

call At&t and report it lost or stolen they can suspend the phone and also make it in usable to anyone if found. If you have the insurance make a claim right away before making any changes to your account otherwise it’s possible you would be denied a claim

Well, if I could get a phone number or a real person to discuss this with, or even a chat window, I would have done that. Dealing with AT&T is almost a frustrating as dealing with Apple.

Locating your device with find my iPhone does not require 2FA.
Just to test it, I added a idevice tracker to my android and signed in. Worked, found my iPad.
Try it
