I don't know if my Smart Lock is working

I set my Smart Lock for my phone to stay unlocked while I'm here at home but my phone still keeps locking and I have to keep punching in my code. I recently got this Galaxy Note 9. My old phone was also an android phone and it also had Smart Lock and it worked fine. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

If you're experiencing issues with an app you installed on your device that is crashing, won't open or respond, or isn't working properly try the following steps:

 Always use a strong Wi-Fi connection and connect device to power source when updating your device software.
