Group texting

My husband has an AT&T Galaxy Note 10+ for his personal phone and he has a Galaxy S10e for his work phone.  If someone at work sends a group text message out  to his work phone, he will sometimes get it on his personal phone number instead of his work phone number and vice versa.  Sometimes his personal group text messages will come to his work phone number.  Example someone sends a group text to my husband and the boss.  My husband gets it on his personal phone.  Then he responds.  Then the boss responds.  That response goes to my husbands work phone and not the personal phone that my husband had responded from.  Anyone else have this happen?  If so, what is the solution?  Any help would be appreciated!

Hey there, @tellis72003! We want to help your husband resolve that group messaging trend on his two separate phones.

 

It's possible that Dual Messenger is causing group messages meant for one phone line to arrive on another. Try resolving your experience by disabling Dual Messenger on both devices:

  • Tap on Settings > Advanced features > Dual messenger > tap to DISABLE.

Dual Messenger capability on Samsung phones lets you use two different accounts with one chatting app. That means you can keep your accounts for work and home separate, but on the same phone.

 

Also, in instances where group messaging isn't working as it should, make sure to try the helpful tips at Android Group Message Troubleshooting – Fixes From AT&T.

 

Check out the instructions under Two Fast Solutions:

  • Restart your device. In some instances it may just be cached information, and restarting the device can resolve it.
  • Clear storage from the messenger app. Go to Setting >Tap on Apps > Select Messages app > Tap Storage > Select Clear Cache.
