free included activearmor advanced

I just upgraded my plan to Unlimited Elite which states Advanced ActiveArmor is included as part of the plan.  When I downloaded the app onto the correct iphone, the app is forcing me to still pay $3.99 to enable advanced and unless I do so, it stays on Basic.  How do I enable Advanced without the $3.99 charge?

Hi ! Here's what you can do to start taking advantage of advanced AT&T ActiveArmor's additional security features especially now that you have upgraded your plan.

First, uninstall the advanced ActiveArmor app then power your device off for several seconds before powering it on again. The plan update to your account should take affect on your device once your phone powers back on. You should then reinstall the app to test if you're still charged for using advanced ActiveArmor.

To learn how to perform a soft, factory, or alternate master reset of your device visit our Device Support center. After selecting your device's make and model, choose Troubleshooting followed by Reset Device. Apply the instructions as they're presented.

Next, and if your experience persists despite the first step, check to make sure that you have upgraded your plan:

Compare or change plans

Sign in to myAT&T online or use the app to compare your plan to others we offer. See something you like?

  1. Go to Change my plan to see your current plan and our other plans.
  2. Scroll through our other plans. Select Compare plans to get a side-by-side view.
  3. Compare plans and decide which one you want.
    • Choose Select & review and follow the prompts to switch plans.
    • Want to keep the plan you have? You don’t have to do a thing.

Find additional details at Change your AT&T Wireless plan.

Try this and let us know how it goes. If you need further assistance, there are some things that we can check to make sure you're able to use advanced AT&T ActiveArmor without the $3.99 charge now that you have upgraded your plan.

Thank you, I deleted the app & powered the phone down as well as conducted a soft reset.  Afterwards, I re-installed the app but it shows it is still in basic mode & it still wants to change me.

I did just upgrade my plan yesterday to Unlimited Elite...does there need to be a time frame or does provisioning need to be re-sent to my phone?

Hey there trebuin, let's get that charge removed from your account.

Let’s meet in a Direct Message so that we can look into getting that fee removed from your account. Please check your Direct Message Inbox (it’s the chat icon next to the bell icon in the upper right corner of the Forums).

In the meantime, have a look at the benefits for having ActiveArmor.

We look forward to meeting you in a DM to get this handled for you.

Thank you for contacting AT&T Community Forums

From your myAT&T on the iPhone, I selected "Manage my autopay" to access the phone account settings.  From that page, scroll down & select "Manage Plan." From here, select the correct number & select "Manage." This took me to the wrong phone number initially but that's ok, simply select the correct phone from the page it loads. After doing that, select "My add-ons" & it will scroll you down to the add-ons...scroll further down to "Explore add-ons" & you will see & select "AT&T Active Armor (SM) mobile security"...it was the last option as of this writing.

If you have the correct plan, you'll see three options:

1) AT&T ActiveArmor (SM) mobile security (Free) No extra charge

2) AT&T ActiveArmor (SM) advanced mobile security $3.99 /mo

3) AT&T ActiveArmor (SM) advanced mobile security for unlimited plans No extra charge

This is where I needed to select option 3 to activate the free version.  It'll ask you to acknowledge statements & activate it as a feature.  Once I did this, I uninstalled & reinstalled the "AT&T ActiveArmor Mobile Security" app & it set up as advanced automatically.  It failed initially for me but I was a bit fast on the steps so the update did not propagate all the way.  I simply uninstalled & reinstalled it once more & it worked great.

The activation of the advanced version does not happen with the change to a plan that includes it so I had to manually activate it.

Do not activate it through the ActiveArmor app...that will have your phone ask you to approve the $3.99 charge.  If it was activated on the website, the app installs & sets up advanced without brining up anything mentioning $3.99 or the phone asking for any purchase approval.  That's about all we need to know.
