Family Plan not working for i phone 5

I have not been able to locate my daughters phone which is an iphone 5 with the Family Plan. I tried the trouble shooting ideas shared in this forum. This is the one I really need access to. If I can't fix this I am canceling this service. Very frustrating.

I just called AT&T and canceled this service. The agent didn't even try to troubleshoot this with me but wanted personal information on why I want to track my kids. This is very disappointing. Anyone have a better service to recommend?

This is a known problem with the iPhone and "family map". The iPhone is designed to be located with the "find my iphone" app, which does the job very well.

Thanks but how do I locate other phones besides mine?

Setting up both phones for find my iPhone and family sharing can allow you to find any apple device as long as it is connected to wifi or cellular with location services on.

Hey @Glendi

I’m sorry to hear you’ve encountered issues with FamilyMap and the iPhone 5. In order to successfully use FamilyMap with an iPhone, the FamilyMap app must also be installed on the iPhone you wish to locate. Upon downloading and installing the app, please open and you will be guided to “Join Your Family”.

Lizdance40 is also correct. Find My iPhone also offers location services via icloud.com

Thank you,

Did you do the "join my family" part?

Other users have reported the iPhone will connect, then disconnect.
Rejoining the family works for a little while, then the iPhone is gone again.

Icloud is very reliable. All you need is the login info for each phone
