ActiveArmor auto connecting VPN on private wifi

I have same problem as several who have posted previously. I can’t turn off the active armor VPN. No matter what I do it automatically reconnects. I turned off auto connect and I turned off the VPN in my phone settings. I’m on my home network that it tells me is secure. And it immediately automatically turns the Vpn back on when I try to turn it off.

If I get VPN to toggle off in my phone settings, it always ends up back on at some point. How can I fix this? If I can’t, I guess I will have to delete the ActiveArmor app.

Hi mj13ob. Having a feature automatically turn on can be frustrating especially when you've taken steps to make sure that it's off.

Let's look into what you can do to disable the AT&T ActiveArmor mobile security's VPN while you're on your home network.

First, if you haven't already, make sure to visit your favorite app store to download the latest update of the app is installed on your phone. The most recent version usually contains fixes for unexpected trends that may have developed on previous versions.

If your experience persists despite the first step, then try these actions, depending on the operating system (OS) of your phone:

  • Disable the app, restart the device, then enable the app again in Settings > App menu.

  • Delete the app and reinstall and open it to see if it works.

It may even help to cancel your original Google Play or Apple App Store subscription and re-subscribe from your phone's favorite app store. If you're an AT&T customer, you can opt-out then add the AT&T ActiveArmor mobile security app through your AT&T online account:

  • Opt-out:
    • Account > Manage Device > Add-Ons > See all add-ons > My add-ons > AT&T Mobile Security > See options > Opt out of AT&T Mobile Security & Call Protect > Let’s Review > Read and accept Ts&Cs.
  • Add:
    • Account > Manage Device > Add-Ons > See all add-ons > Select AT&T ActiveArmor mobile security and follow prompts to download and install.

Let us know how this goes. Make sure to include details about whether you're able to successfully visit your favorite websites despite the VPN being active, or you're not able to do so because of the VPN.

If you still need assistance, we can invite you into a Direct Message to take a closer look into your account for a definite resolution.
