Upgrading to the iphone from basic flip phone...
If I upgrade my basic flip phone to the iPhone and decide not to use it and use my basic phone instead will I still be charged for data?

No you can swithc back to the flip phone and call to have the data plan removed, just rememeber that you are in a new two year commitment and if you plan on selling the phone it will not qualify for a unlock until those two years are up

Just to add something to wingrider01's post, if you decide to switch your SIM back from the flip phone to iPhone, should you decide to use it, ATT will detect that and add a data plan.
