Unlocked phone Hotspot blocked Canada
I have tried to offer feedback to AT&T directly, however I have not found a suitable avenue to do so. Unfortunately I am stuck having had purchased a new phone from a re-seller in Canada with the unlock code factory provided (next to the bar code). The hotspot functionality is locked to AT&T through carrier firmware. I have spoken with Bell, AT&T, and Kyocera technical teams to resolve the matter, however to no avail. When AT&T offers it's cell phones to re-sellers, the phones aught to have full functionality. In today's flexible cell phone market with laws requiring carrier unlocking, standard Android features such as tethering should really be available to the end user. The phone is the waterproof Kyocera Hydro Shore. I believe that I have been party to an unfair transaction, and so I'm not pleased. Firmware aught to be made available to resolve this issue. Respectfully.
