Unlimited Plus Data Speed

I do not have unlimited but I'm quite sure what the chat line told you about unlimited plus is not true. You will get the same download speeds on unlimited plus as you get the on the grandfathered plan. I'm sure someone on unlimited plus will verify.

@bovverwonder Unlimited Plus would be full speed, just like your grandfathered plan. Forget the 5-12Mbps, that would be the lowest common denominator of high speed. If you switch plans you should get the same speed.

On your current plan if you go drive around you'll get different speeds all over the place (try even turning your phone at weird angles).

Unlimited choice is intentionally throttled to 3Mbps.

If people actually want unlimited data, I'll never understand why they'd want intentionally super slow unlimited data with degraded video quality. It kind of defeats the purpose of a high quality phone on a high quality network...

Yes, just the day before yesterday change to unlimited data plus.  Download of my table top is around 8 or 9.  Late at night it can go much faster but I am not doing much at 3 am.  The upload is what I am complaining about, table top, laptop, iphone, ipad pro all get uploads of about 1.3 to 1.7.  These tests were performed on not only the ATT speedtest but also on a couple of other testing apps I have for other reasons. So far I am beginning to seethe since I was promised  never below 2 and I have yet to see an average of 2 let alone 3.  Will pickup where I left off tomorrow.  I will let you know.

You should have done speed tests before as this is ALWAYS the case with upload speeds being far slower on any carrier, including home internet speeds.  

These are mine.   The left is CELLULAR.  The right is my home internet (COX).  

So simmer down, nothing is amiss.  

For the sake of clarity.  Downloading data and uploading data are two distinct features.  I did a variety of speed tests from my table top, from my iPad Pro, and from my iPhone. With each device I ran the test several times.  Of course upload and download speeds differ.  What concerned me was that when I changed to the unlimited plus plan neither download nor upload speeds matched the stated data rates.  Turns out that ATT never actually switched me to the plan despite my att account saying they had.  

One last question, if you please.  How is it that a current plan, with current data speeds predicted new data plans with advertised data rates?  That part of your comment made no sense to me.  Perhaps you can explain it to an old DP programmer and manager of MIS operations for 30 years.  In business one can get an advance copy for testing.  I have never seen that done with individuals.

Where, anywhere on the Unlimited Plus plan are there stated or advertised data rate speeds for anything other than the throttled speed on tethered data after you hit 10 gigs?
(It doesn't).

 Data speed is determined by tower output and does not change unless you are on the Choice plan which is throttled at 3 Mbps .  If you are referring to the 5-12 in the original post, that was false information. 

I also was grandfathered with the very old unlimited data plan that I refused to give up.....I had two lines.  My problem was my youngest son was not under the grandfathered.  They finally got me to accept the new "unlimited" plan with the hook of the free hot spots.....we thought this was incredible until now 10 days later and my older son who is a gamer used up his 22g of

"optimal speed" and now he is at a snails paced can do nothing.......is this how its supposed to go?

yes it would be the same as grandfathered speed UNLESS like me you finally gave up the grandfathered plan for the shiney

new unlimited plus and find out too late that if you have a gamer in your home.....his great new plan slowed to a snails pace after about 10 days!  now what?  for the other 20 days?
