Unlimited Elite Plan, Personal Hotspot for iphone12 Pro and for Ipad Pro (with cellular) simultaneously

I have an Ipad Pro, Gen 3, with Cellular.  In the past I had an Iphone 10Pro.  I was able to use either device as a personal hotspot for my laptop.  I upgraded the Iphone to a 12Pro.  Now my laptop will only connect to the iPad as a personal hotspot; however, once the laptop connects to the Ipad, the connected symbol is displayed on both the Iphone and Ipad.  What changed?  Since both devices are covered on my Unlimited Elite Plan they should both have a 40GB personal hotspot data per month.

We want to help your new iPhone 12 Pro connect to your iPad's personal Hotspot, @djmy!

In order to provide adequate support, we want to know more about your experience.

  • When trying to connect do you receive an error message? What happens when you try to use the service on your iPhone 12? This info will help us pinpoint the cause of your experience in order to reach a definite resolution.

If you haven't already, you will need to update the software on your iPad. Users with iOS 4.3 or later can share a connection to AT&T's mobile network over Bluetooth, USB, or Wi-Fi with up to 5 devices at once with these connection-type maximums:

  • Up to 5 connected devices over Bluetooth.
  • One connected device via USB.
  • Up to 5 connected devices over Wi-Fi.

Make sure that you're not exceeding the recommended number of connected devices. Also, use a USB cable to test whether your iPhone can successfully use the Hotspot provided by your host device (iPad).

Give this a try and let us know how this worked for you!
