Unknown number

Hello,

I made a call to someone outside of my contacts list and they said they almost didn't pick up because it showed up on their phone as unknown instead of my phone number. Why would this happen and how can I fix it?

Let's look into that Caller ID occurrence for you, @jessica_woody!

 

In order to provide adequate support we just need to know more about your experience. If UKNOWN displays with only a single caller not in your contacts then you will need to verify with the called party:

  • Does the called party have Caller ID capability with their carrier?
  • Does the called party have a Caller ID feature block active?
  • Is the called party traveling in an area that supports Caller ID?
  • Is the called party able to receive Caller ID from other callers?

If either one of these are the case then the called party will need to contact their service provider for troubleshooting and a resolution.

 

Additionally, please be advised that Caller ID does not work fully in the Puerto Rico and United States Virgin Island (USVI) area because the local telephone company does not support the Caller ID feature (CID). AT&T cannot guarantee CID presentation if an inbound call routes to this area.
