Unknown message not found

I just started receiving multiple messages from "Unknown" and the content reads, "Message not found."  What is causing this to happen, it is very disruptive.

Hello @CoffeeCafe!


My apologies that you are receiving these messages! I know that can be very frustrating and I will be happy to help!


What type of phone do you have? First, I recommend taking a trip through our AT&T Troubleshoot & Resolve tool! After selecting your make and model, there will be an option for Messaging under Service/network issues.


I also recommend clearing the cache for your Messages application. Clearing data should also help, although I suggest backing up your messages first so that you do not lose them.


Steps to do this will differ depending on phone, however you can usually do this by:

  1. Accessing your Settings
  2. Scroll to the Device tab
  3. Choose Applications
  4. Select the Application manager
  5. Scroll down to Messages
  6. Hit Storage
  7. This will present the options to clear cache and clear data
