Two Factor Authenication

I cannot receive 2 factor authentication codes via SMS on my LG Thin8X, even from AT&T.

We'd like to look into why you're unable to receive the two factor authentication code @

 

We have a troubleshooting tip for you to try.

 

Use the following steps to check that the feature is enabled:

  • Go to Settings> Applications manager and select all
  • Scroll down and select Messaging
  • Scroll down and select Permissions
  • Locate a tab titled PremiumSMS service, then select it and enable either Allow or Ask.

Please follow these steps and let us know if you can receive the two factor authentication code.

When I go into the Messaging app in my phone under Permissions there is no tab called PremiumSMS Service?

I have powered of/on, checked all my settings and replaced the sim card. None of that has made a difference. I haven't received a message back from Joyne who posted to me to turn on premium SMS, which I can't find on my phone?

Hey there, @TPlimmer!

 

Try accessing Premium SMS by following these steps:

  1. From your Home screen navigate to Settings and select Apps & notifications.
  2. Tap Special access.
  3. Tap Premium SMS access.
  4. From the Premium SMS access screen, tap the app then select an option:
    1. Ask
    2. Never Allow
    3. Always Allow

Also, use our Device Support tool to make sure no numbers are blocked or restricted on your device. After selecting your device's make and model, choose Email and messaging followed by Block messages and follow the steps to unblock any numbers that may be restricted.

Hello Lar, I did as you outlined. However, when I get to the Premium Access screen it states there no Apps allowed premium access and it doesn't offer any options?

Do you currently have any phone numbers blocked on your cell phone?

 

Also, do you have the AT&T Call Protect app, or similar apps that prevent unwanted phone calls/text messages downloaded on your device?

Not getting certain verification codes including EMERGENCY notifications.

I just upgraded to the IPhone Max Pro 12.  I am getting some verification codes but not others. I don't get emergency verification codes, which I discovered when a fire here in CA was right near our home and neighbors were evacuating and I had no idea what was happening. I also can't work virtually because I don't get the verification code from my work system, AND I can't get in my bank account online. This all has serious consequences. How do I fix this, hours on the phone with ATT and was disconnected, they didn't call back.

Same here! This used to work but hasn't for months, even from AT&T. I spent over an hour on the phone with tech support and was escalated to the next level. My ARD case is CM20210902_150760441; NO FOLLOW UP and STILL BROKEN! Today I'm shopping for a new carrier, this is unacceptable.
