Turn off data intermittently

Is it possible to turn data off & on intermittently? Example - turn off in morning & back on in evening. I know I can turn it off until next billing cycle but don’t want to do that. This is on an iPhone 8, & I am currently using screen time (child’s device).

Hey there @Cheronrs, we'll be happy to answer your questions regarding limiting data usage.


Our AT&T Secure Family app has a few more ways to control data usage beyond the method you've already mentioned.


You can pause and resume internet access just by selecting the specific child's device on the app from the parent's device, and selecting Pause internet or Resume internet. There is no time limit with this options, so it is permanent until you choose to resume access.


There is also the option to restrict times for internet access to select certain hours where the child device will be unable to access the internet. From the parent's device:

  1. Select the child from the list of family members.
  2. Scroll to Time Limits.
  3. Choose from:
    • School hours or Night hours and adjust the recommended times.
    • Add a time limit and set the days and times you want the custom time limit to go into effect.
  4. Tap Save

Please be aware that both of these methods only prevent the child's device from using data or Wi-Fi to access to internet. They'll still be able to call or text using iMessage and the phone's call app.
