Texts to group messages and delayed Voice Mail notifications

Hello.  The last week or so I've had the following issues.  I have an iPhoneXR on AT&T Prepaid.

- Group messages containing iPhone and Android users give me "Message Send Failure" almost every time when I try and send a message.

- Voicemail notifications on the iPhone show up hours later.  I tried calling my number yesterday to check to see if I had any messages and I got a response that "My password was entered incorrectly" even though I hadn't entered anything.  I've talked to another AT&T user who had this happen recently.

Thanks!

Josh

Hi @austijs.

We're here to help with your group messaging and voicemail concerns.

To point us in the right for group messaging:

  • Are you able to receive message while in a group message from non-iPhone users?
  • Can you send/receive messages from Android users in a one-on-one scenario (SMS)?

For Voicemail please try out troubleshooting tool after changing the device make and model. You may also sign in for a more personalized diagnostic for your iPhone XR.

Let us know how this helps as well as the answers to those questions when you are able.

Thank you.

Greetings @austijs!

Try resolving your group messaging experience by power cycling your device:

  • Simultaneously press and hold the Side button and the Volume up or down button until the slider appears, then select and drag the Power icon to the right.

If your experience persist despite the first step, make sure MMS Messaging and Group Messaging are enabled in the phone settings for Group Messaging to function properly:

  • Select Home Screen > Settings > Messages > Tap the MMS Messaging slider.
  • Select Home Screen > Settings > Messages > Tap the Group Messages slider.

Also, try accessing your voicemail messages from another phone:

  1. Call your 10-digit wireless number.
  2. When you hear your voicemail greeting, press the * key to interrupt it.
  3. If you reach the main voicemail system greeting, enter your 10-digit wireless phone number, then interrupt your greeting by pressing the * key.
  4. Enter your voicemail password when prompted.
  5. Follow the voice prompts to listen to your messages.

Let us know how this worked for you.
