Tethering an AT&T Samsung S4 on GoPhone plan

Hi,

I'm with Cricket now but I've read that GoPhone allows tethering so I am considering switching to GoPhone. I have a Samsung S4 that was originally purchased from AT&T. Currently, when I go to Settings > More networks > Tethering and Mobile hotspot and turn on Mobile Hotspot, I get the message, "To enable mobile hotspot on this device, go to att.com/mywireless or dial 611."

If I transfer this S4 to GoPhone, will GoPhone be able to enable tethering on this device?

Thanks,

Mark

Hello @sdmark

Thank you for posting your question on the AT&T Community Forums. Both the 45.00 and 60.00 GoPhone data plans will include the mobile hotspot capability.
For a full list of our plans including information on other services GoPhone has to offer, please visit us at https://www.att.com/shop/wireless/gophone-plans.html

If this helps, please mark this post as solved.

Thank you

With assurances from the AT&T store employee, I signed up for GoPhone. Somewhat to my surprise, my Samsung S4 was immediately able to tether.

ATTManual, thanks for your reply. My concern wasn't whether the plans included the capability but whether my GoPhone would be able to enable that function on my old Samsung S4. I found out that the answer is yes, it can. Somehow, with the GoPhone SIM card installed, when I turned on the Mobile Hotspot funciton on the phone and it went to "Verifying," it was able to confirm that the feature should unlock and I was able to tether.
