Switching SMS app How to convert Advanced messages to basic messages
I don't like the view all function of Samsungs Messages app and I want to switch to Android Messenger. However the sent messages I sent over the last few days where sent as Advanced messaging. How do I convert those to Basic messaging without having to resend them?
Going to be a very very long day of having to manually change date and time on my phone to resend all those messages so they will be sent at the correct day and time again as a basic message. And the thought of having to inconvenience a lot of people to have to resend messages from me.
Android messenger will not read the messages sent with Advanced messaging.

Hello @mrnapolean1,
Advanced Messaging is a great feature which allows you to send large files over your messaging app, as long as both phones have it enabled. It will be my pleasure to help!
The first step is to make sure Advance Messaging is turned off. Please go to your Messaging App > More > Settings > Advanced Messaging > Uncheck Advanced Messaging. Once it is off, please reboot the phone and see if the messages show up in the new messaging app.
If not, please try pressing and holding one of the messages to see if they have the option to forward to a number. If it can, please see if you can send it to yourself and resend it to the contact, the message was originally sent to.
Please let me know if these steps help! Have a wonderful day!

I have already turned off Advanced Messaging.
Theres no way to convert those that where sent with Advanced messaging without having to resend it?
The only way I can resend it and have it be sent on its original time and date is to roll back the time and date on my phone.
My original complaint about the stock SMS app is on long Text messages I often get it shows a View All button and I have not found a way to disable this other than using a different SMS app.

Good Morning @mrnapolean1
I hope you are doing well. I understand having to resend the text messages you already sent out is not convenient. The text messages which were sent out or received while your phone was on the Advanced Messaging option would have to be resent in the Basic Messaging option since the original message is already received by the recipient. The view all button is only there when the Advanced Messaging option is on, as Advance Messaging allows for bigger messages to be sent.
If you have any other questions, please feel free to reach out. Have a great day!

Thank you for reaching back out to us in regards to your Advanced messaging issue. We can actually turn off Advanced messaging on our side to prevent the feature from turning back on.
I will be sending you a private message from my side. This will assist me in gathering additional details from you. Please be on the lookout for this in your Forums Inbox.
I look forward to working with you! Have an awesome day in the meantime.

I need to chime in here too. I'm unable to back up my message history as well with my replies to people since they were sent in Advanced message mode. HOW this happened or was turned on is beyond me.
I went from Android to Android. And the app I used was SMS backup and restore. BUT it doesn't support advanced message backup. So what are my options to back up ALL messages and replies??? Backing up one side of the conversation for over a year with multiple people is useless.

Chiming in here; need a way to backup/restore messages sent under advanced messaging (turned on without my knowledge). I too would like to switch from samsung messaging app to android messaging, and transfer ALL messages (not just the ones sent without advanced messaging). I'm also using sms backup and restore, and it's unable to backup / restore sent messages from advanced messaging.

Try "legal text collector" on Google Play for $1.99. It worked without a hitch for me. I am facing a court battle and needed this. Forget SMS Backup.

Try "legal text collector" on Google Play for $1.99. I don't know if it is monthly billing. If so, I will cancel. It worked without a hitch for me. I am facing a court battle and needed this. Forget SMS Backup.
