Switched from Verizon to At&t, now can't receive texts from family still on Verizon

We switched from Verizon to at&t about two weeks ago and kept our phone numbers.  My wife is on iPhone and agree working with at&t support,  her phone now gets texts.  I on the others hand am on a Samsung galaxy s22 ultra and still am not receiving texts from any Verizon customers.  We've spend hours on the phone with at&t and Verizon and still not fixed. What should I do? Verizon even though we canceled back on June 26th they still had our account active which last week we finally got them to close the account.  Which fixed hers which was the primary number but not mine.  Help!!

Likely the port is not completed.

Call the PAC (Port Activation Center) at 888.898.7685.

We have contacted the pac, after 6 hours on the phone with them they said it was fixed,  they re-ported the number and still not working.  Thanks for the advice though.

I’m having the SAME issue- and we’re on almost the same timeline. Switched from Verizon to AT&T and upgraded to iPhone 12 around June 21…around July 4th I could no longer receive SMS from Verizon Android contacts. MMS works- I can talk to these people in group texts and receive gifs/images but normal text SMS they receive my messages but I do not get their replies. Been working with AT&T support for 2 weeks now - too many hours I’ve lost trying to resolve this. And still no fix yet! Verizon said I was ported over and AT&T agreed…also got a new SIM, reset network settings, the normal troubleshooting crap. I still think something is hung up in the Verizon system though.

@GrumpyRRM

Since you're using an iphone, does your new iPhone show your phone number in settings for send and receive?

Even if it does, uncheck, and then recheck send and receive with your phone number. Also make sure the phone number is correct.

Switching carriers often adds a +1 which you must edit and remove

@formerlyknownas I do have the +1 in front of my number. However, so does my spouse and they are able to text Verizon Android users and receive messages back with no problems. They are on the same plan as me- only difference is their port from Verizon was done the same day we switched to AT&T. My porting came a couple days later since my phone had to be ordered and sent to me. So there were a couple days between where my spouse was completely moved to AT&T but I was still using Verizon while waiting for my new phone. I feel this contributed to the glitch despite both company porting departments saying they don’t see anything wrong. There was even a point in June where a couple texts from people went to my old iPhone 7 which was my Verizon phone (I didn’t trade it in just upgraded so I still have that phone but have since removed the SIM card to avoid anything weird happening). But the weird thing is this whole glitch really started on July 4th, who knows why. Earlier that day I had received some Verizon texts and by that afternoon- nothing. 🙄🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

I have the same problem that has been going on with my mom's phone for 6 years.  I would love to solve this. It is making me crazy.  Ever since she ported her number years ago, she has been unable to SMS message Verizon customers.  I have spent all day today with her new 14 pro, set up a new apple id, and did not restore from the old phone, all in attempts to get this fixed.  It has not worked.  Now on hold with Verizon for the second time today.

@jackofearl Honestly, the issue for me is now fixed- AND I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THEY DID. I had many calls with Apple and they determined it was definitely an AT&T issue. I went to the AT&T store many times to get help, had many "escalated" support calls- the kind where you go home and they call you hours later and do all kinds of diagnostics and tell you they're working behind the scenes on a fix. I chased down the Verizon porting team and every time they told me it was ported correctly. I had a manager at an AT&T store get HER porting department on with Verizon's port department. I also had them look at my call/text logs- you could see the outbound texts on my end, and the inbounds from friends/family- and I was able to tell the diagnostic teams who I wasn't receiving even though the log showed it as "inbound". I don't know if that helped them look specifically at certain numbers to see where the drop was happening?

Finally one day after wasting way too many hours of my life on this, I woke up and checked my phone, and all of a sudden a bunch of texts came in from Verizon users- voila problem solved. But I was (Edited per community guidelines) to never have gotten the true solution other than literally hounding EVERYONE on both AT&T and Verizon.

That is great!  At least you have a great outcome.  My solutions seem to be this new number, and my mom is going to flip or keep worrying everyone to death.  I might go for option #2.  It sounds like a party.

Hi AT&T,

I am having the exact same issue with my recent port on Oct. 26, 2022. I have had countless hours of time on the phone with AT&T and Verizon.

Verizon tells me the port out was complete and they can't help me anymore since I am no longer a customer and AT&T tells me that I need to contact Verizon to fix the line/porting/routing issues.

I am getting fed up and would just like a resolution to this. I don't feel like I should need to call one company then another. I have done all the troubleshooting things everyone has told me to do and even the back office at AT&T is stumped as far as they have told me.

I don't want to have to change my number since I have had it for 25 years.
