Suspicious ATT Free Msg

I have received several text messages such as:   ATT Free Msg: November bill is paid. Thanks,  Here's a little gift for you: r5kr.xyz/Ju9PHL3oFu

This seems suspicious to me so I did not click the link but am wondering if anyone else have received similar text messages.

thanks

I continue to get these kind of messages DAILY! If AT&T wanted to do something about it, they would. But instead, they’d rather make money on selling our information to other businesses, which ultimately ends up in the hands of scammers. I’m switching over to T-Mobile in mid-January (as soon my iPhone that’s currently on back order gets delivered) because I’m sick of getting all the spam on AT&T. From what I’ve read and from what friends of mine who have T-Mobile have told me, T-Mobile has superior spam blocking technology.

We understand the importance of keeping your personal account information secured and how irritating receiving these spam text can be, .

There currently isn't a filter available to scan the content of messages but that's a great suggestion. You'll want to continue forwarding spam text message to SPAM (7726). You can report these messages and unwanted calls using our security report form. Also, check out additional Fraud & security resources we offer for your protection. We hope this information helps.

Thank you for visiting the AT&T Community!

We understand how frustrating these spam messages must be and we'd like to offer a few tips that might help @buztrv

You can report spam text messages by forwarding them to SPAM (7726) or by filling out our security report form. You can also learn more about the fraud & security resources we offer for your protection.

Regarding your order: if you are purchasing the device on installments, even if you pay off all the installments at once, the phone would be have to be in service on our network for 60 days before it would be eligible to be unlocked and ported out.

Please let us know if you have any additional questions or concerns; if so, we'll be happy to assist you. Thank you for reaching out to our community.

I have been a customer for over 12 years and I have been getting these scam messages for months now.  I am blocking rhe numbers as I get them, and I am on the do not call registery.  I also have the upgraded att call protect plan.  You would think that with all of this, the messages would stop.  Please figure this out ATT.

Nobody likes dealing with annoying text messages, @SODAK_BRAT! Spammers use a variety of technologies to send unsolicited messages to AT&T customers without consent.

AT&T is vigilant about protecting our customers from unsolicited text message spam. The best way that customers can guard against unsolicited messages is to be careful about where they distribute their wireless phone number.

Example: If you sign up online to receive message alerts, be sure to understand that company's privacy policy concerning treatment of your wireless phone number, exactly what sort of messages you will receive, and how you can unsubscribe.

Also, more scammers are turning to texts to trick you as AT&T and other carriers take successful action to stop illegal robocalls and spam email; so you will want to be aware that you may be seeing more of these suspicious messages on your phone.

We hope this info helps. Thank you for contacting our Community & Forums!

I get multiple of these texts every month. It’s super annoying. I’ve been on the Do Not Call registry for years. The Do Not Call site does have a way to report unwanted calls, but when you tell them that it’s a text message, this is the response: “Unwanted text messages do not violate the Do Not Call rules, but we want to hear about your complaint.”

So the advice provided by AT&T doesn’t really help. As many other people have commented, blocking the number doesn’t do anything, because the texts will just come from a different number next time.

AT&T, it’s time for you to step up and do something more to protect your customers.

We appreciate your feedback, @CRRA! We will forward your remarks to the correct point of contact for review and consideration.

Spammers use a variety of technologies including devices or dialer software to place uninvited calls to AT&T customers without their consent. It's possible to report those unwanted calls and text messages by completing this form.

I agree with the other commentators that this is something AT&T should deal with as it would seem to be hitting all their wireless subscribers.  They have the resources.  Why just push responsibility for dealing with it on their customers.

We should take it to the FCC to see if they can do something about it.
