SMS/MMS issues - at my wits end and ready to switch carriers
I am on an AT&T family plan with 4 members.
Starting the evening of May 3rd, Tuesday, I did not receive a MMS/SMS from my daughter.
Since then I have been unable to receive any MMS from anyone (within my family plan or outside).
I can receive SMS from individuals on AT&T, but on a hit or miss basis.
I cannot receive any SMS from any of various financial institutions, UPS tracking, USPS tracking, etc. This is crucial for 2-factor authentication.
I do not receive any text responses when I dial an AT&T Star service code, or USSD codes, such as *225#
This behavior carries across 4 (FOUR) different cell phones - my current One Plus 7 Pro, a brand new OnePlus 9 Pro, my wife's OnePlus 7T, and a new (freebie) AT&T Radiant core.
My wife can put her SIM card in my cell phone and receive SMS & MMS without a problem. But if I put my SIM card in her phone I cannot receive MMS.
This behavior is definitely not hardware related, and appears to be related to my specific phone number somehow. No one else on my family plan has been affected.
I went to the AT&T store and got a new SIM card. No change. The manager tried everything, but gave up saying it was beyond their capabilities.
I spent almost 2 hours in an online chat with someone who took me through every step on their list, and had to open a ticket with back office support. 3 days later I received an e-mail yesterday stating, "We investigated your technical issue and were unable to find a problem."
You are my last hope, fellow Jedi. Otherwise, I'll be moving our family plan to another carrier.
