short text messages not received

Hello.  Since changing carriers (and phone), the only short code messages that I receive now are from AT&T.  No other texts, whether it be from vendors or two-factor authentication verifications are being received.  I have followed the instructions provided by Apple and the forums I found in AT&T, but it is still not working.  Apple indicated it is a carrier setting?

Hello @dwdsmd,

We'd like to look into how to apply short codes for your device.

With more details, we'll be able to assist you to the best of our ability:

  • What type of device do you own?
  • Is this a AT&T device?
  • Is the SMS settings on?
  • Also, what specific codes aren't you receiving?

Please let us know.

iphone 12, yes is AT&T device, SMS is currently on, but have tried both way;  originally was just short codes, but I am also not receiving all 10-digit number texts.  Chatted with AT&T support this morning and someone was supposed to call me within 20 minutes of exiting our chat, but no one has called yet (several hours later).  Have reset network settings, hard reset, etc and nothing is working.  Changed carriers when this phone was purchased and moved to AT&T, so I believe that has something to do with it.  Also, Apple support says it is a carrier issue.  Thank you for any help you might be able to assist with.

Hi ATTHELP,

I am happy I came across this. I am having the same problem with a previous number change. How can I get your assistance? I tried 611 support but have not gotten any where. It seems like you know exactly what the problem is.
