Scam: "AT&T Free Msg: You came in ... in the Connecticut AT&T SWEEPSTAKES"

I received a text that says "AT&T Free Msg: Makenzie! You came in 2nd in the Connecticut AT&T SWEEPSTAKES! Claim your bounty here : (website link), or show this code at AT&T story (code)"

I do not live in Connecticut so I assume this is a scam but just to be sure.

I received this text from AT&T:

AT&T: Barbara you came in third in the Connecticut contest Claim your I PAD PRO here:               r1fmz.info/gSpPZv1PiZ or show this code at a AT&T store 1z91555. I did not click on the site I think this is a fraud I  have been with AT&T for a lot of  years never heard or saw them do a contest like this?. Could use a free I Pro Pad but something about this does not seen to be true.   Please let me know I this is true THANK YOU

I got the same thing saying first place. Haha always to get someone. Sad thing is they will get an older person that is naive.

This is so obviously a scam or virus! I first received a text informing the previous owner of my phone number that she had won and I immediately deleted the text and blocked the phone number that was connected to the text. I was notified about two hours later that I had won the same exact spot in the same exact sweepstakes. Amazing! Clearly I must have won, right?!?! Lol!

Just got a text from (469) 649-3957 saying I came in 3rd in the Connecticut sweepstakes and won an iPhone 12. Well, for starters, I don’t live in Connecticut and two, I already have an iPhone 12 and third, I never entered any sweepstakes.  

and I don’t click on random links either

There are MULTIPLE posts about this scam.

Just got a text saying that I came in first for the Connecticut At&t Contest. I thought it was a scam but at the end it says take this code ------- to an At&t store. Is this a real contest?
