Repeated texts
I received a text from a friend this morning, and now I've received that same text message 10 times. I've tried restarting the phone (both with removing the battery and without), and I've cleared the messages cache. None of that has helped. It has also blocked any ability I have to get texts (tested this with another person's Android phone). This isn't the first time this has happened, either. It happens once ever month or so, although it rarely goes on this long.

Hi there @demonblackie
I’m sorry to hear that you are receiving the same text message repeatedly! I can help with this!
May I ask what make/model device you are using? As a general fix, please try powering the device off completely for 5 minutes, allowing the connection to the tower to expire. When you then power the device on, it will begin a new connection and if this is a network based error, should stop those messages! When this has happened before previously, was it with the same contact?
Thanks,
Charise

It is an HTC Vivid. I've already done the power down thing. It was off with the battery out for close to ten minutes. Upon putting the battery back in and powering it up, it continued to send the duplicate text.
No, it hasn't been with the same people. I've had it do that with multiple contacts, although it's never been this bad.
It has, however, finally kicked itself out of the cycle by itself today. I received the test texts that I mentioned I had sent my phone yesterday finally. So, while the problem has ceased, I didn't do anything to stop them, and I'm certain it will happen again in the future. As it stood, my phone was unable to receive texts for nearly a complete day. All told, I received close to 20 of the duplicate text.

Did you ever get an answer? I've run into that myself. I think last time I suspected it was the facebook messenger program that was part of the equation but I never confirmed that. I just facebook messenger.
