Please Postpone Mobile Hotspot Data Cap Due to COVID-19
I am waiting for a long distance ethernet cable to be delivered so I can set up a home office. In the meantime I have been using my phone as a hotspot. Despite being on an "unlimited" plan, you guys have been sending me threatening text messages about my data usage. As you said when I tried unsuccessfully to call, this is a national emergency, so I would appreciate if you not limit my "unlimited" data while I wait for my the cable to be delivered. Is this too much to ask? Can I at least get the 50 gb limit that other plans seem to have, jfc?

Those aren't threatening messages. They are simply the system letting you know you are reaching whatever threshold exists for your plan. They are required to do that, the FCC fined them for not doing that in the past. You also don't have unlimited hotspot usage, no plan does. Your complaint about not limiting your unlimited plan just doesn't apply to hotspot. Yes, it would be great if ATT would do away with that hotspot cap for the duration of the crisis but don't make false claims about limiting your unlimited plan. There is no plan that offers 50GB of hotspot to my knowledge unless there is a business plan that does. The Unlimited Elite plan offers the most hotspot data, 30GB.

AT&T lie so much I’ve had them for years and I’ve had unlimited hotspot and about 6 months ago it changed to 10gbs of high speed and after that it’s unlimited but it’s slowed and useless I don’t know how they can just change my plan without saying anything... most likely will be switching because of this...

@Waynecox
And what plan do you have?
Except for the postpaid Unlimited Plus plan from 2017, no plan allowed a dedicated hotspot device on an unlimited data plan.
At&t has NEVER advertised a phone plan with unlimited hotspot on a phone.
NEVER.
If you had unlimited access, it was not legit access, and you got caught exceeding the limits of your plan.
AT&T did not lie, but you may be a cheater if you used access your plan did not allow.
