Phone does everything except send/receive texts

I just switched my number to a new phone, an AT&T LG V40 ThinQ on a prepaid TRACFONE plan. I have had Tracfone service for 17 yrs and the same phone number for about 6, without issue. My other phone was a Verizon Smartphone. So my new phone can make/receive calls, can access 4G LTE & Wi-Fi, but CANNOT send or receive texts. Stranger yet is that it appears as though the texts are being sent; I'm not getting an error message. This also happens when someone texts me, so it looks like I'm ignoring all of them. I've done everything I can think of without success: Tried multiple different APN's, reset the network, deleted the cache, force stopped messaging app, deleted messaging data, checked the service center number & did a factory reset. Does anyone have any idea what the issue may be? Has this happened to anyone else? Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated, thank you.
