Hello @Mossplan8

Being able to using the mobile hotspot feature any day that you like is very convenient to have. Allow us to start you on the right track!

Please know that in order to access mobile hotspot, you would need to have a capable device and hotspot tethering that is included on your wireless plan.

You can review our Learn about Wireless Plans for Hotspot article for more information and details. Also you can check out available AT&T Plans for Hotspot to find the right plan that best suit your needs.

We hope this information helps, and have a great weekend!

To the Heads of AT&T or some that cares:

I have been with AT&T since around 1994 through their ups and down but it to bad that the loyalty doesn’t go both ways. When I start it was AT&T then Cingular then back to AT&T. I liked it back when it was the original At&t they worked with back then. Now that they are to big now and don’t care about their customers, if they did customers would not be leaving and going to other cellphone companies.

We have just updated to unlimited data and now I lost my personal Hotspot this is just another way for AT&T to make more money. So much for loyalty to the customer. The loyalty goes right down the toilet to the older and existing customers  but give the new customers get everything.

Let’s see HEADS OF AT&T CARE and REPLIES BACK with a descent Reply, I have a a lot doubt and will be surprised for a reply.  Thanks Jeff !   [edited for privacy – please do not post personal information]

@OldTimer61 No one from ATT will email you. Besides, posting your email address on a public forum is a bad idea unless you like spam. It is also against forum rules so it will get removed by a moderator if you don’t remove it first. Not sure why you expect a response anyway. You switched to a plan that doesn’t support hotspot. If you need hotspot, switch to a plan that does support it.

Wait, isn’t this the EXACT same plan new customers get?

This is a customer populated, community forum, with light moderation.   You may not get a reply from AT&T.  And if you do, I can guess the formula response will be to direct you to the plans which tell you which have hotspot use.  With lots of platitudes, as that’s how they make you feel better about saying, “this is how we do it”.

So pay the extra $30 for the next higher plan.  That’s $30 total, not $30 for every line.

Just so it’s clear, your complaint is that AT&T has 2 different plans and the higher priced one allows limited hotspot use, but you got the cheaper plan.   The cheaper plan limits your unlimited data to the one device only.

Can you tell me which carrier doesn’t charge more for limited hot spot use?  ( Answer: they all do )

Verizon, T-mobile, Sprint and all the little carriers who are just reselling the big 4 service and reprioritize you behind the major carriers.

We should mention Verizon, who still has users on the old legacy plan, which had no caps or throttles.   Aside from it not being offered in the past 7 years, let’s talk about it . . .  The plan did not allow hotspot use, but you could add it for $30 per line (total of $60 per line)  In 2015 Verizon abruptly raised the price $20 per line.  (Total now of $80 per line).  This is in addition to the plan price and text package as no text was included and voice calls were limited.  One user complained he was paying Verizon almost $300 a month for a single line plan and one phone installment.

So how is your bill for how many lines?
