Not receiving verification codes

I have an iPhone 12 and my partner has an iPhone 13.  We are on a family plan together and we both recently stopped being able to receive verification codes.  This happened after we switched out to new SIM cards, due to a service interruption.  The new SIM cards fixed the service issue and we are able to receive all other texts & calls, but no codes, which are necessary for any 2-step verifications for things like bank accounts and logging into AT&T.

3 trips to a store and 6 calls to customer service have not been able to resolve the issue.  Anyone have any ideas?

Not getting any automated messages, testing a Zapier workflow and I am not seeing them.  I can see them go out...

I have a Pixel 5 and cannot receive codes from my bank.  A real problem! Can anyone tell me how to access blocked numbers on a Pixel 5? Or any other solution to this problem?

I'm so glad AT&T is taking this issue seriously (after years of countless customers sharing the same experience).  That was said with total sarcasm.

Problem solved! If you have tried everything and it did not work, then you need to call 611. See steps below. (I have a Samsung Galaxy S21 5G with the latest Android 12.)

Have an app that can send you a short code text ready. I used US Bank but you can also use Uber, Lyft or another banking app. Get to the point where the app is trying to send you a short code verification text.

If you have another phone use the other phone to call ATT so the tech can stay on the call while your phone reboots.

Then you have to call AT&T (611) and ask for tech support. Tell them that you have tried everything and nothing worked. They will then send your phone an update (which will disconnect the call if you only have one phone). Shut down the phone for 30 seconds then turn it on. Go to the app and ask it to send you a verification code. Mine worked right away!

Before, I tried EVERYTHING --- reset network, rebooted 3 times, deleted all blocked numbers, did not have call block app, dialed *3282# and received a message back from ATT --- and nothing worked.

Update: After 1 day, I have received sms short code texts from Citi, AT&T and Chase. SMS code arrives right away -- has been rock solid so far. I used to ask them to call me with the code because the sms didn't work. Unfortunately, not all companies (like US Bank) provide an option to call you with the verification code so you're SOL if your SMS doesn't work.

Why do you have to use two phones? Not clear to me.

@mefarr -- Once the tech sends the software update, your call will be disconnected. You will then have to power down the phone and wait 30 seconds before powering back on. The tech will then call you back.

If you have a 2nd phone then the tech will stay on the line while you power down and back up to confirm that the SMS short code works.

I only had one phone and it was fine.

Earlier this week, my iPhone 14 Pro Max (purchased in September) randomly stopped receiving short codes (verification codes) from apps. I verified that the short codes were not blocked, restarted my phone to include conducting a hard reset and reset my network settings. However, I still could not receive short codes. I first noticed this issue with my iPad Pro. I purchased an iPad Pro through Apple in November and once on the AT&T network, it no longer received short codes, although it was attached to a cellular plan. Prior to upgrading my iPad, I didn’t have any issues with an older model iPad Pro on the AT&T network. I contacted tech support using another phone and informed them that I stopped receiving short codes on both devices. The representative instructed me to turn off both devices. He first re-provisioned the eSim and refreshed the network on my iPhone 14 Pro Max and then did the same on my iPad Pro. I was advised that this is a feature within the eSim that could result in the inability to randomly stop receiving short codes. After the representative reactivated the eSim for both devices, I was able to receive short codes. The representative was very knowledgeable and the phone call lasted roughly 15 mins.

Hey, I've been having the same problem, but it's only certain companies that can't send me short codes. Been going on for over a year now. Usually there is an e-mail workaround, and only been a problem as of late. I found this thread, and after an at&t tech "fixed" the problem - yet somehow didn't - I filed a complaint with BBB. I got a call from the office of the president the next day, and subsequently another call from tech support, this time from someone who I could clearly understand over a phone line. At the end of the call I was still unable to receive short codes from two sources, one of them my bank, and then I was told they had done everything they could on their end, and should follow up with the individual companies on my own.

So there's that, maybe this info will help someone?

Anyone know if the original poster of this thread ever resolved their issue?

I know this is months later, but I'm having the same problem and it's been lasting for months and I just filed a complaint with BBB. I don't know what else to do, I've tried everything in the books

My issue the as resolved on chat with help. Some short phone numbers were blocked, including my bank's. The bank was using another service for this function, so it didn't have the bank's name attached to it and I didn't recognize it.
