My Unlimited Data plan is being shut down daily by AT&T technicians in Durango CO

I have had "unlimited data" for over 4 years.   AT LEAST 3 years ago AT&T started shutting me down not allow me to get on the internet.   I'm a senior with a home based Internet business that is deeply affected by AT&T shutting my services completely down for entire days.   It would always come back on for the evening hours, which does not do my daytime business any good.    I have called countless times over the years and have been jerked around, with no fix ever given.   At one point a representative actually said that Durango Colorado is too small a town for them to worry about fixing anything they needed to fix in order to keep ALL OF US up and running at all times.   I'm deeply saddened by this.  As a backup plan I  purchased a "stand by" air card via Verizon that I have to plug in every time AT&T doesn't allow me to login to handle my day to day business.   I am paying for 2 services just because of AT&T's criminal behavior.   Needless to say I've reported this to the FCC.

I don't believe AT&T's unlimited plan was ever meant to run a business over. I think you are abusing the system and have been rightfully throttled to the benefit of those of us who pay for every GB of data we use.

Sorry to be so blunt, but I don't think you'll find much sympathy here.

Ditto...

Why haven't you installed home internet service to run your business?

Hi there @robinann41

I’m sorry to hear that your data access has been limited. I’d be happy to help! It’s possible that your data speeds are being reduced once more than 5GB of LTE or 3GB of non-LTE data has been used in a bill cycle. Only unlimited data plans are affected in this way, to ensure our network can provide service to all of our customers. One option would be to try one of our Mobile Share Value plans which would not see any reduction in speed. To see which Mobile Share Value plan is right for you, see our Planner!

As an alternative, you may be interested in our internet services. Click here to check availability in your area, and for pricing!

I hope this helps!

However the data isn't just slowed down . . .  it is shut down completely.   I'm not able to sign in to the internet at all.   If it were simply slowed down, I could handle that.   For 10 years I ran my home based online sales business via dial up because that was all I had available.   Slow is something I was used to prior to moving to Durango and signing up with unlimited gigs air card services with AT&T.

Probraly everybody misunderstood about "unlimited air card" with "grandfathered unlimited data plan" for smartphones. Maybe your Air Card modem or whatever it's called is defective, if AT&T don't have that brand of air card, probraly have to go "third party" like Amazon if they have it in stock?Smiley Surprised

This is an old thread, but may apply here. Unlike cell phones with grandfathered unlimited data plans, it seems the air cards were not grandfathered and capped at 5gbs.

I can't confirm this is why your air card isn't working as expected. If you view your bill online it would have the terms of your service.

I purchased my air card 10 years ago.

I am upset as I hit the 5g limit on a unlimited card and was cut off.

No Service. Now they want me to change to a 5G plan for $10.00 A MONTH LESS!

I have been paying $10.00 A MONTH more for unlimited, which I never really had.

What a rip off! ATT goodbye. They owe me money. Overcharging for a plan not really available.

Did you read the post above yours?

Your Aircard was capped at 5 GBS at least 5 years ago.  Unlike cell phones, Aircards were not granted unlimited, grandfathered status.

The contract on the Aircard expired 2 years after you purchased it, (so 8 years ago).  Any changes made in your service after the expiration is legitimate.

If the price for data is lowered on the 5 GB plan any time after the 2 year contract expired, you could move to the cheaper plan. It is not up to ATT to offer, or move you to the cheaper plan, you have to ask for it.

I read the post above mine. My bills still were showing "UNLIMITED". I was also led down the primrose path by ATT reps as when they saw the "Unlimited" on my account for years I was constantly told to be sure and keep that as you can not get "UNLIMITED" anymore. I paid extra for 5 years on my "UNLIMITED ATT" bill without any notice that I was paying for a plan that was not available. Like buying car insurance with Zero deductible. Paying extra for it for years. Then have a wreck and they tell you to pay $1,000 dollar deductable becuse we deleted that type of insurance 5 years ago. That is a deceptive business practice. ATT knows it also.

If you cover an personal or identifying information, you can post the bill.  I'm curious what the bill or account includes.
