My Samsung S21 did an update hot spot no longer works

My S21 updated and now when I try to turn on my hot spot I gets message that says my plan does not support mobile tethering.  I have an unlimited data plan that does support it and I use my hot spot to connect my iPad for my food truck business.  We cannot process customer transactions with out it.  How do I fix this?

I have the same issue. Hotspot can't be enabled without wifi connection to Internet first. Is there a fix?

Hello @sunnydavid, we'd like to assist you with your mobile hotspot connectivity. You will need a network connection to use mobile hotspot.

With a few details, we can assist you to the best of our ability:

  • What current plan are you on?
  • What error message are you receiving?

Please let us know.

Hi Jonye,

I am with AT&T unlimited plan. The message says Mobile Hotspot not available, Your plan doesn't support mobile tethering.

The fact is, my plan suppors 50GB hotspot per month. I have no trouble using hotspot with the same SIM card in my iPhone, but not with S21 Ultra. I also submitted this issue to Samsung.

Thank you,

David

Thank you for your reply! We'd be more than happy to further investigate into your mobile hotspot connectivity issue @sunnydavid !

Before we continue, allow for us to ask a few questions to gauge a better understanding of the situation:

  • Have you tried Resetting Your Network Settings on your Samsung S21 Ultra?
    • If you are experiencing connectivity issues, a simple reset of your network settings has been shown to resolve your technical issue.
  • Has this happened after the recent software updated based on OP's response? If so, have you tried uninstalling the update?
    • By going into your Samsung Galaxy S20's settings you can uninstall the update from your mobile device.

We kindly await your response!

I had a similar problem and was able to fix it by resetting the network settings. See this link below on how to reset the network settings.
