Mobile hotspot issues

On my old number, part of the same family plan, the mobile hotspot worked. I switched to this new line for privacy reasons and when i log into myATT it doesn't seem to recognize the LG pheonix 4 as my phone. It says its an unknown non-smart-phone.

When i try to use my hotspot it says this device and plan is unauthorized although my old number with the same device could do it no problem.

Is there an easy way to fix this?

We'll need some more details in order for us to better assist you:

  • How long has this been going on?
  • Which of our specific wireless plans is currently set up on your wireless account?
  • Was your cell phone ever previously displayed and recognized when you signed in to myAT&T?
  • Have you made sure that you're following the correct steps to Set up your device as a personal hotspot?
  • If so, what happens exactly when you try to enable the hotspot? Please provide us with the full error message that's being displayed.
  • Also, is your cell phone's software up to date?
