legal?
Wow! For the first time I forgot to pay my bill and now, on a $85.20 bill I am charged a $5.25 late fee. This is an 81% annual rate which, I thought, was illegal. Can AT&T really charge anything they want as a late fee?

Hello @fws009.
AT&T is upfront and open about the charges. They posted publicly what the charges and fees are, and state clearly on the Terms of Service what will happen if you pay your bill late. It is a standard on all companies who charge for a service to apply late fees. They committed to provide a service, and they want you to pay on time.
I highly encourage you use AutoPay to avoid any late fees. Most companies offer this option as well.
If you are still questioning this fee, please contact them to determine what options are available.

My credit card company charges $35 late fee, even if my late balance is 50¢.
Add auto pay, add text notices, mark your calendar on your phone.
