I use Wifi calling and not all of the messages sent to me are received until much later

I have a Samsung Galaxy S9 and at home the cell service is terrible so I rely using wifi-calling to keep in contact with people. All of my messages send, the person receives them but a lot of the times their responses don't arrive until I get to a spot that has actual cell phone service. It makes it difficult when it comes to work and time sensitive conversations. I've tried restarting my phone, turning off/turning on wifi-calling to see if it resets but it still doesn't help. Is there a way to fix this and maybe make it so all of the text messages and calls come through via wifi-calling?

Greetings @SalenaS,

We do understand that there seems to be problems with you not receiving messages till later while on Wi-Fi calling. We'd like to ask some questions so, that we may better assist.

  • Are you aware of Mark the Spot App? It allows you to report dropped calls and network connections.
  • How is the signal strength when on Wi-Fi calling?
  • Have you tried getting a new SIM card?

Hi Jacob,

I haven't heard of that app before, I might have to check it out.

The signal strength is very good where I am to the wifi router and it doesn't lose connection since my laptop is online when I do lose the connection to my phone.

Would a new SIM card help with this? I've it since I got my first phone several years ago and it's been with me for every upgrade.

Greetings @SalenaS,

Thank you for reaching back. Let's look deeper into this.

In your call settings, you can make the Wi-Fi calling (vs cellular) the preferred choice and see if it improves your texting experience. The Mark the Spot tool is very helpful to report your experience to our tech department, therefore please check it out and use it to report your experience.

Concerning a SIM card change, this can correct some error that may have occurred without notice on the old SIM card. You can visit an AT&T store closest to you or order one online.

Please also send us your zip code so we can check out our towers close to you.

We hope to hear from you soon.
