I cannot get verification texts on my new iPhone 14

I cannot get verification texts to sign on to my accounts on my new iPhone 14. I seem to get all other texts. Apple and credit card companies have not been able to help and tell me to try contacting AT&T. Any idea why I can't get these texts?

Hey @CodelessMark, we want to help you get these verification codes again.

 

This can be caused by a few things, so we want to start by troubleshooting and making sure you can receive anything from these short code numbers.

 

First, check your block list and make sure that the number that'll be sending the code isn't blocked. if it is, you wouldn't get the verification text. Next, try texting Help to the number in question. This will confirm if you can get messages from them if you get an automated reply back, and tell you if you were opted out and how to opt back in.

I have no numbers blocked. I tried responding with Help and I did not get anything back. The text I replied to was a text that was received on my old iPhone 11. I have never received a verification code since I got the iPhone 14. My wife also has a new iPhone 14 and has the same issue since upgrading from an 11.

One reason you may not be getting any texts from the short code number may be caused by a poor connection. You can troubleshoot this by resetting your network settings, however this'll erase your current saved Wi-Fi settings as well.

@CodelessMark  If you've both tried all of the usual "fixes", Reset Network Settings, completely shutdown and restarted your phone, made sure that i Message and SMS/MMS is setup correctly (even tho iMessage uses Apple's servers), etc then it's probably and account issue somewhere on the backend. Can you send/receive messages to Android phones and do you have any accounts that rely on 2FA to gain access?

If those fixes don't work, your issue will have to be escalated far up the chain before someone can look specifically into your account to see if there is a corrupted settings somewhere or one that hasn't been set correctly. Unfortunately, this may have to be escalated via a complaint to the BBB.

Thanks,  So I tried all of the usual fixes Shutdown/restart, reset reset network settings, looked at the wireless support page. I am able to send and receive texts from an Android phone. I seem to get all other texts except the verification codes. All we did was get new iPhone 14's and we cannot get verification codes. I cannot access my bank account of make an internet purchase with my phone.

Great that we spend thousands of dollars per year on phone, tv and internet  with AT&T and their answer is "here are some links go figure it out yourself" 

What am I supposed to do next?

Mark, file a complaint with the BBB. IMO, not receiving 2FA is a critical issue, especially if you have them tied to your financial accounts.

Codeless Mark, were you able to find a resolution? I too just got a new iPhone 14 and cannot get any verification texts. I followed the basic steps above as well with no success. I can't access my  bank or my email.

@IconJk  If going thru the normal AT&T Support channels can't resolve the issue then you need to file a complaint with the BBB. That will go straight to Corporate and someone from the Office of the President will contact you. I had the same issue with my iPhone 12 a year ago and took a Senior Manager, and one of his staff, to isolate and correct the issue on our account.
