How to group text more than 10 on AT&T
Learn what devices support Advance Messaging
The Wait is over! Through 2021, AT&T is continuing to increasing the number of people you can group text. It is slowly being rolled out and tested on many devices. Check out David T's Advance Messaging page for more information regarding group messaging and the new features to come.
***********Information below is still valid for some devices until the update is pushed to it.***********
***********We do not know when your device will support group messaging but it is coming.***********
Why Are There Limits?
AT&T has implemented a limit to the number of group message participants as a way to protect our customers from spam and/or malicious software. AT&T is vigilant about protecting you, our customers, from unsolicited text message spam.
Is AT&T Going To Update The Limit?
Some devices have the ability to send group messages with up to 30 contacts. More updates are coming to increase that number but I do not have any information when a change will take place. Last updated 2/23/2021.
If spam messages have affected you, you can report them by:
- Forwarding a copy of the SMS and MMS spam to short code 7726 (SPAM).
- You are not charged for forwarding the spam message to 7726.

This issue is not "Solved!"
I have been with AT&T for several years now, and they are totally ignoring their own customers on fixing this issue. A simple solution is to raise the limitation to 30 or 50.
Today is Thanksgiving, and even typing this very message out, I am getting texts from a group of family and friends of 12 people who are texting back and forth to each other, yet I can NOT even respond because of this limitation.
I am part if various Bible studies groups, and even host, that use SMS messages to communicate back and forth, yet I can not respond.
Like I said, AT&T is ignoring us! They've been ignoring us for years regarding this issue.
Why?
Because it doesn't affect their bottom line. There are more customers who this limitation doesn't affect and they don't care.

This is stupid. I'm not able to text back to everyone in my family and have to make a choice on who to delete before I can send a reply.
Two more months and I will be free from this limitation. Verizon will be happy to have me as a customer.

I tried to text 11 participants in my building - we stay connected if the water is getting turned off etc. The 11th one is new and apparently I can't do this. I hope this policy is changed soon, I'm renewing my phone and will need to choose another provider.

It's 2020 and I am forked out a small fortune for my note 20 plus, yet I am still being limited to 10 group messages! I have a large group of bffs and they are very frustrated with me because WHEN I join in the group chats I cause the message to split to each person individually. This has got to stop! I never would have switched from Verizon or from iPhone if I had known. I feel totally scammed by At&t!

My iPhone allowed me to connect with my family on a 17 person string. I lost that phone and replaced it with a Samsung A70, and now I can't reach out to that same list.
This is a garbage limit that is unacceptable.
Please fix ASAP.

please change this to a reasonable number. the average joe or jane has at least 15 members in their canasta group... lol
25 would be better, completely covers the average user, and still frustrates spammers.
